If a red thread were to be traced that unites many of the stories told by the children met, more than the vast and composite sample of the motivations that led to the departure or the living conditions prior to the migration choice, it could be perhaps in early work experience.<br>Many of the children they met are in fact united by having known a working horizon long before departure, starting to work as early as 11 or 12 years, or even at 6 or 7 years old, as heard in some stories, to contribute to the economic support of the Family. For many others, the most disparate work experiences have marked the long journeys needed to reach European shores, especially for minors from Sahelian Africa, who thus have found the economic resources necessary to pay for the trip.
