Se si dovesse rintracciare un filo rosso che accomuna molte delle storie raccontate dai minori incontrati, più che il vasto e composito campionario delle motivazioni cha hanno spinto alla partenza o delle condizioni di vita precedenti alla scelta migratoria, si potrebbe trovare forse nelle precoci esperienze lavorative.Molti dei minori incontrati sono accomunati infatti dall’aver conosciuto un orizzonte lavorativo molto prima della partenza, iniziando a lavorare già a 11 o 12 anni, o addirittura a 6 o 7 anni, come ascoltato in alcune storie, per contribuire al sostegno economico della famiglia. Per molti altri le esperienze lavorative più disparate hanno contrassegnato i lunghi viaggi necessari a raggiungere le coste europee, specie per i minori proveniente dall’Africa Saheliana, che così hanno reperito le risorse economiche necessarie a pagare il viaggio.
